Counselor/Cabin Leader Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

Age: At least 18 years of age and a year removed from high school.

Time: The entirety of the camping season - typically a 6-week summer

Who: Positive, enthusiastic, and proactive. A heart for ministry to teens and kids

What: Ability to pass a background check, general mobility, including running and ability to lift at least 50 pounds

High level of responsibility and accountability

Experience working with kids may be preferred

High energy, upbeat personality to engage kids

Works well under pressure

RESPONSIBILITIES:

To support and work toward the camp mission statement

To be responsible for a cabin of campers (4-8 campers)

Leading and supporting campers as they participant in age-appropriate activities

Monitoring campers to ensure camp rules are followed

Participate in morning counselor meetings

Work hand in hand with other camp counselors, ensuring a unified team

Interact with parents in a professional and polite manner

To prepare and lead a variety of camp activities

To follow all camp rules and protocols, including weekends

DISCIPLESHIP OPPORTUNITIES WITH CAMPERS:

Lead daily cabin morning devotions for juniors / facilitate discussion for teens

Be responsible to attend morning chapels a couple of times a week

Lead evening cabin devotions / facilitate discussion based on chapel material for the day

Small group setting during some chapels

1 on 1 discussions with campers

Prayer partners with a teen OPS member (high school operational staff)
